While I am sure you have watched quite a few of the films that have won a Cannes, but do you know about the Cannes Lions? No, it’s not another category in the film awards.
Cannes Lions is a festival that celebrates creative communications in all forms necessary since 1954. Since the past 62 years, productions houses from all over the world participate in an eight day programme of inspiration, celebration, learning and networking, driven by the belief that creativity is the force behind business and change for good. In short, Cannes Lions is the biggest advertisement festival in this planet.
Let’s begin the story now that you know about Cannes Lions. They say only the humble share their rewards. It seems Bubbles Film, a German production house that won an award for its Volkswagen ad ‘Pedro’, in 2013, has decided to share its award with the Cannes Lions delegates and their idea is creative genius.
Most of us know that different metals are used to create different colours in the tattooing industry. Bubbles Film melted their only Cannes Lion to extract the copper and mix it with tattoo ink. What do they plan to do with it? They plan to share the award by tattooing Cannes Lion delegates with that ink.
Bubbles Film Berlin CEO, Barbara Kranza told the international media in an interview, “In Cannes, the Lions are the most valuable and sought after items, everyone wants to go home with one, but only a few get the chance to do so. We’ve got one, so we thought, why not share it with the world?”
The tattoos will be done in the shape of lion in front of the Carlton Hotel, London from Wednesday to Friday this week in Bubble Films’ Award Ink Studio. We say what a way to share the award and make it permanent for the ad world mad men! Cheers!!
