Last December, India finally witnessed a tattoo convention, worthy of being tagged a global-scale convention, simply because of the size and grandeur associated with it. Never before did an Indian convention feature names as rich as Paul Booth, Anil Gupta and Andy Shou. And never did a convention gather such a crowd of Indian tattoo artists before Heartwork. But how did Sameer Patange and Lokesh Verma come up with this magnanimous festival at the first place?

As Sameer mentions, Heartwork Tattoo Festival wasn’t his first attempt at organizing a tattoo convention, as he was the man behind 2011’s Tattoo Republic as well. Both he and Lokesh faced a lot of hardships in shaping the festival, financially and otherwise. But their dedication towards the idea ultimately lifted them over all obstacles.

Supported by the likes of global names such as Anil Gupta and Paul Booth, the Heartwork team pulled off a convention that made people talk about tattoos in India. First challenge completed!
