Serjiu Arnautu has been on the road as an artist for about 5 years, until now. He has been travelling for ten years all over, but Nepal is still very special for him. As he comes back every year at least once, it was no question, if he would join his family of Nepal Inked this year. Furthermore, Serjiu also decided to live for a while in Nepal and work as an artist. Even the experience of the earthquake did not pull him off that decision.
Serjiu works mainly with geometry and dotwork, but is also interested in other kinds of pieces. He likes to experiment with different styles, depending on the clients and their wishes, but mainly Serjiu’s perception of their personality.
The influence from ornamental art cannot be negotiated within his work. Travelling might be the main inspiration, especially when it comes to traditional decoration in the context of Nepal and India.
This year, Serjiu has been guesting in many studios around Europe, mainly Switzerland and Italy, after leaving Nepal in the end of April. But finally, it is time for him to come back to his chosen home.
“Tattooing is a human connection, has various feelings when you experience it. I find it very personal to each of us. I had great experiences in this craft and I had pretty bad ones too, there is way to much blah blah blah in this so-called tattoo community. I’ve been pushed and dragged into this overtime, it had changed my behavior at times. I’ve always tried to stay focus on what I’m doing, without trying to prove anything to anyone. I only look for that connection with the skin, and I’m grateful for the time people exchange with me. Nothing in life really matters, but there are some things that fulfill one man’s addictions. Do what you love, do what you want no matter what, experience new things everyday. Live.”
